Do you need to buy new 5G SIM Cards for an upgrade?
If you are in the cities that are mentioned above. You need to have two things for using the 5G network. First a SIM Card and second a 5G phone. You don’t have to worry about SIM Card because you can use the old SIM that you are using. Although, there is no need of buying any new SIM card Your Existing 4G Airtel and Jio SIM cards will support 5G.
Why your existing SIM cards will support 5G?
5G is in India two type one is NSA(Non-Stand Alone) and another one is SA(Stand Alone) in simple words. NSA is in the process of upgrading the same 4G antenna with some parts and they will be ready. This is what Jio and Aitel are doing which is easy and efficient. That is why your existing SIM Cards will support it. However, SA is the process in which the whole 4G antenna is replaced with a new 5G. However, this SA process gives a speed of up to 1 Gbps.
Check if Your Smartphone has supported hardware.
As of now iPhones, Oneplus, Motorola, and Samsung Flagship devices are not getting 5G network signals. The companies will push an update to support it. We already know that Airtel is the only one that is providing a 5G network to their consumers in some specific Bands N1 N3 N8 and N78.
Airtel hasn’t disclosed anything yet. For now, you can upgrade for free and will work on your data pack. Just make sure that using this network consumes lots of Data.
