Ingredients

Leftover idli- 5
Onion-1
Tomato-1
Oil-2 tsp
Lemon juice- ½ lemon
Mustard seed (Rai)- ¼ tsp
Urad daal -1tsp
Curry leaves 8-10
Haldi-1/4 tsp
Water- ¼ cup
Red chilli powder-1/4 tsp
Green chillis (Optional)-1-2 no
Sambar masala (Optional) ½ tsp
Salt to taste
Pinch of black pepper
Chopped coriander (handful)

Instructions

Preparation:

Take idlis and cut them into small pieces.

 

Chop tomato, onions into small pieces. Slit green chili's into from the middle.

Cooking:

Take a deep pan and heat it. Once pan is hot enough add oil and mustard seeds. As the mustard seeds start popping add urad daal and curry leaves.

Once the daal starts to turn brown add chopped onion in the pan and cook till the turn pink in color. then add tomatoes, green chilli. Once tomatoes are cooked add haldi, sambar masala, black pepper and salt.

Add water in the cooked masala (if you are making fresh idlis no need to add water) once masala starts bubbling add the diced idlis. Mix everything well add lemon juice and some chopped coriander at last

Serve masala idli hot and enjoy it with tea or coffee.
