On the 29th of September. Intel announced their new 13th-generation core processors. These Raptor Lake processors seem promising this time. As intel showcases many more things in the event related to the new generation processors. Many gaming enthusiasts and content creators will be happy after the event. After lots of teasers, trailers, rumors, and leaks these processors are official now. At the event, intel announce 6 new 13th gen processors. That includes two intel 13th-gen i9 processors, two 13th -gen i7 processors, and two core i5 13th-gen processors. Intel 13th gen processors will start arriving on the 20th of October. however, there will be 22 processors in total for the 13th-gen lineup. These all-new processors look like a good move from intel against the new AMD processors. Here look at why?
Intel 13th Gen flagship i9-13900k
Intel unveils its first 13th-gen raptor lake lineup led by i9-13900k. As the intel CEO claims that this is the fastest desktop processor ever built in history. It is based on a hybrid architecture with Efficient and Performance cores. Formally known as E-Cores and P-cores. With enhanced P-cores, more L2 and L3 cache, increased number of E-cores, and their capabilities for intensive workflows and workloads. Intel i9-13900k will go up to 5.8Ghz. Although, There is some good news for those who want to upgrade. Intel 13th gen processors will support all the previous gen PCIe 4 and DDR4 rams.
Intel i9-13900k is priced at $589. It is 90$ cheaper than the new AMD Ryzen 9 7900X. However, this new flagship processor ships 24 cores and 32 threads with hybrid architecture. That splits workloads between 8 P-cores and 16 E-cores.
For the 13th gen, Intel is still going to use the same architecture as they did for the 12th gen. Arm-based silicon same as Apple has been using for their devices.
Intel Core i7 and i5 processors later announce at the event.
However, both the i7 and i5 processor has the same number of performance cores. Compared to 12th gen processors whereas there is an increase in efficient core count from 12th gen for multi-tasking and for the apps which require multithreaded processing powers.
While there is a massive bump in the speed of i9-13900k. 800mhz more than 12th gen processor. The i7 and i5 seem to get not as much as the i9 which has an increase of speed boost of 400mhz and 200mhz respectively. i7 ships with 16 cores 24 threads of which 8 will be p cores and the other 8 will be e cores and with 30 MB of cache. However, i5 will be shipped with 14 cores and 20 threads with 24 MB of cache.
Power consumption and efficiency.
Power efficiency is always been a major concern for users. whether they are using it for gaming or for creating content or using it as a simple daily driver for browsing and streaming. All the intel 13th gen processors will draw the same power for the base consumption of 125watts and for maximum turbo power intel 13th gen i9 and i7 will draw 253watts and i5 will consume 181 watts for maximum turbo power.
